Begin with anxiety. Anxiety is a normal bodily response to stress; however, when it becomes excessive and interferes with daily life, it may be indicative of an anxiety disorder. Excessive worry, difficulty concentrating, trouble sleeping, and physical symptoms like a racing heart or upset stomach are all signs of an anxiety disorder.

An excessive sense of sadness is commonly used to describe depression. Depression, on the other hand, can have an impact on every facet of a person’s life and is more than just sadness. Long-lasting feelings of sadness or emptyness, a loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities, changes in appetite or sleep, and difficulty concentrating are all symptoms of depression.

Extreme mood swings, ranging from mania to depression, are a hallmark of bipolar disorder. A manic episode is one in which a person experiences extreme euphoria and vigor, whereas a depression episode is one in which a person experiences sadness and loses interest in activities that they normally enjoy.

Naturally, these are only a few of the frequently used terms in the field of mental health. OCD, PTSD, and schizophrenia are just a few of the many other mental health issues that can affect a person.

However, being familiar with these terms can assist us in gaining a deeper comprehension of these conditions and in providing the appropriate support to those who are experiencing them.
